    DIRECTOR CANDIDATE NOMINATION FORM

  • Meet our Candidates for the 2024/25 Board of Directors!

CRYSTAL HARRISON – Returning Board Candidate

My kids have been playing with Langley Minor for the past 9 years. I have been a team manager the last several years and I joined the board last year as the U9 Division Manager and loved it. I really enjoy being a part of an amazing board and would love to be a part of it again.

DANNY FRANCO – Returning Board Candidate

I have had the pleasure of being involved with LMHA for almost 40 years, coaching all different levels of both house and rep hockey. I also have 25+ years of experience volunteering on the LMHA Board of Directors, including terms as a Division Manager, Coach Coordinator, VP Operations, and 8-years serving as President… 1994-1999 plus the three most recent seasons. Over the years of involvement in minor hockey, I feel that I have gained the value and experience of what hockey brings to our community and have been instrumental in working with Township in both the 90's and more recently to acquire new ice rinks for Langley.

DHUPINDER THIND – New Board Candidate

I have an extensive background in both the public and private sector. I have strong educational credentials including a Masters degree. I have accumulated strong business acumen, leadership, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills. I maintain a professional demeanour with a focus on integrity, respect, diplomacy and ethics. My main focus has always been utilizing my background and skills toward making a positive impact. This is especially true in my commitment to philanthropy, which I select based on that which best utilizes my time—to make the most positive impact. This applies in both our local community of Langley and outside of it. I possess the skills and background to make a positive impact, by joining the LMHA Board of Directors; which will benefit our hockey community. My main objective in any Board Member position is to contribute towards the LMHA nurturing and supporting the love of hockey for our players, coaches and board—to the benefit of our city and association as a whole, creating a positive, strong and connected community.

MARK CHRISTIANSON – New Board Candidate

A lifelong resident of British Columbia, my family moved to Langley in 2015 after several years in Vancouver. We are active members of both our school and sporting communities. I have coached three seasons of baseball with my sons teams and one year with my daughters. I have also managed or worked as treasurer on my sons hockey teams for the last four years, most recently managing his U11A1 team. My children attend a small independent school in Murrayville where I have worked as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the last 7 years. Professionally, I have worked in the food industry for my entire career, currently as a Senior Director for a national food brokerage agency with much of my previous experience in food distribution, most notably as the National Marketing Director for Canada's largest natural foods distribution company.

NATALEE LETAWSKY – Returning Board Candidate

My name is Natalee Letawsky. I became a member of LMHA in 2009 when my then eight year old son decided to play hockey. My second son followed suit a couple of years later and we had an amazing run as a hockey family! I joined the Board eight years ago, filling the Secretary role for the first two years, and I have been LMHA’s Treasurer for the past six seasons. My reasons for joining were numerous – it was time to give to back, I had a skillset that I felt would be well-suited, my sons played very different levels of hockey so I felt I could bring a balanced perspective to decision-making and conversations regarding both the A and C streams. Although my days as a hockey parent are now done, I would love to continue in the role of Treasurer for Langley Minor Hockey. I set a number of goals when I took on this role and there a few that I have yet to accomplish. I am a designated Accountant (CPA, CGA) and I have worked in our community for more than 25 years. It’s been truly fulfilling to merge my love for hockey and my love for numbers as LMHA’s Treasurer. Thank you.

NATASHA BELCASTRO – New Board Candidate

My name is Natasha Belcastro and I am a stay at home mom to two boys aged 4 and 6. Before I had my children I worked in the steel industry as a procurement manager as well as a PM. I have a great deal of experience with organization as well as relationship building. The reason I would like to join LMHA board is I believe I can bring a great deal of feedback from the families. Over this past year I have learned alot being the team manager for the first time. I have also helped a lot of other managers as well. I would like to be the key contributor to building a manager handbook. I also believe I can help organize tournaments and events as this is my specialty.

    PARKY – Returning Board Candidate

I currently work in sales and hold a Degree in Kinesiology. With two sons, my family has been a member of LMHA since 2016. I have had the pleasure of serving on the LMHA Board of Directors for the past six years, holding the role of Division Manager for the first two years and the role of VP of Operations for the past four years and would like to return for another term to continue supporting our members.

TED WHITFIELD – Returning Board Candidate

I am currently the A-Director with LMHA and served as the C - Director when joining the board 7 years ago. I first became involved in Langley Minor in 1996 when my son started to play. I was involved as a team manager for many of those years, from initiation through Juvenile and have continued to manage many more teams since then. I spent 3 seasons as a League Manager with PCAHA, as well as 6 years on North Langley Little Leagues board of directors. During that time, I was part of the team that worked tirelessly on creating the indoor Batting Facility in Walnut Grove Park and see it through to its completion. I have witnessed many changes to the landscape of Hockey in Langley over the years and believe it is important to always strive to provide the best possible experience and development opportunities for our athletes at all ages and levels of play.

TODD MCLAREN – Returning Board Candidate

I started as a u6/u7 division manager 5 years ago. I finished the term as the division manager then ran for the VP of Hr and Risk. I have been in this VP role for 4 years. Since then I have enjoyed working with the board to make positive change. I am proud of the changes we have made but we are not done. Will it ever be perfect? No. But it always can be better. We work as a team. We may not always agree but debate creates great solutions. Some of the changes I have been involved in the last couple of years are; - Contract and raise to set out expectations and compensation for A1 rep coach contracts - Created the team level discipline document as a tool for coaches to use in having the best year possible - Updated and edit most of our policies and procedures (fair ice policy, team level discipline, code of conducts - Work closely with BC hockey and PCAHA on legal matters, suspensions, discrimination, insurance issues, and Canucks Autism Network - Track and approve Hockey Canada Return to Play and sign off on injuries - Establish a reporting structure for coaches and referees for game complaints. Work closely with our Referee in Chief - Take monthly reports from our Referee in Chief and Equipment Manager and report at our monthly meetings. - Interview new employees or contract employees for LMHA. (Human Resources) - Handle suspensions for players, parents, and team officials. (discipline) - Complaint investigations (Rep tryouts, coach , ice time, parents, rink complaints, player, and discrimination) - Mediation for issues that arise throughout the season. - Chair formal investigations - The last 18 months have regular meetings with the Langley Township Mayor and city planners on our new rink near the Langley Events Center - Chair the Junior Hockey Committee to give our players the opportunity to move up to junior hockey and or affiliate - Create the parent liaison role and job description to help teams before there are problems. Add a communication element. - Succession planning -Team official certifications - Been a part of the tournament committee in the past (not now due to workload) - BC hockey/ Hockey Canada/ Pcaha changes to policy and implementation - coach application review and background checks prior to approval. I am excited to be on board as we get our own home rinks as an association. My role is not always a popular one but I try and treat everyone fairly. We all make mistakes. We rectify them and move on.
