ON-ICE OFFICIALS PROGRAM

Become an LMHA On-Ice Official

NEW ON-ICE OFFICIALS

  1. Register for a Hockey Canada account and complete the online module
Are you a registered LMHA player 12 years or older? New officials must first complete an online module. You must create an E-Learning account (if you don't already have one) and complete the required module.

  2. Complete a criminal record check
See below for more information on how to complete your Criminal Record Check.

  3. Get certified by completing a certification clinic
LMHA's new officials' clinics are invitation-only. To express your interest, please complete the application form below. In early August, we'll contact you to explain the program. Ensure your contact information is up to date. Once a clinic date is set, and you've finished the online module, we'll send a registration link. After completing the clinic, you'll attend mandatory training sessions and experience real game situations before officiating. New officials start at the novice level and progress with skill development. While we can't guarantee the number of games in your first year, we strive to offer as many as possible based on your availability and program needs.

RETURNING ON-ICE OFFICIALS

  1. Complete a Criminal Record Check if 18 or older
See the below “Criminal Record Check" section for more information on how to complete your Criminal Record Check.

  2. Get Re-Certified by completing a recertification clinic
Your 2023/24 certification expires on December 31, 2024, and you cannot officiate beyond that date without renewal. Returning officials from the previous season must enroll in a clinic posted on the BC Hockey website

If you are 15 or younger, register for a Level 1 Returning Official Clinic, and if you are 16 or older by December 31, 2024, go for a Level 2 Returning Official Clinic. Access the BC Hockey Officiating page for clinic details. If you face registration challenges due to prior certification, please contact BC Hockey and may need to take the new officials clinic and the required module.

Criminal Record Checks

Turning 18 or older this year? Ensure you're ready to register for a clinic with BC Hockey by completing your Criminal Record Check (CRC). Your CRC is valid for 3 years, expiring on July 31 of the 3rd year, and it's free for BC Hockey volunteers using our provided link.

eCRC Submission Steps:

Visit: https://justice.gov.bc.ca/criminalrecordcheck

Enter Access Code: FY4HH6R6BN and follow the instructions.

Please note that the eCRC system verifies identity through the BC Services Card. New users may need to activate it. For assistance, contact crc@bchockey.net.

Remember, there's an administrative processing time, so request your CRC at least 1 month before your clinic. Your completed CRC is sent to BC Hockey by the Ministry of Justice and updates your HCR profile. All officials over 18 must have a current CRC.
