2021-22 Langley Minor Hockey Season

MARK SOARES | U11 A1
Starting out at the age of four, through minor, to Junior A, to helping lead his team to Canadian National Championships, to university scholarships both NCAA and CIS, to high level Professional European Hockey, Mark has seen and done what most dream of. He has the experience to guide young hockey players down that difficult yet rewarding path. Learning from his own mistakes, disappointments and achievements, Mark has developed ways to help players maintain a positive mindset, train to their highest potential and better themselves both on and off the ice. Hockey is his passion, and his goal is to give back to young hockey players and give them every opportunity, the knowledge and the skills to be successful in the sport as he helps to continue the strong tradition of our Canadian game! When not Coaching, Mark is busy sharing his knowledge with players through his own development company.

PHIL GREIFF | U13 A1
With fifteen years of coaching experience at the U-13 and U-15 A1 levels, Phil joins LMHA for a second season. Following a distinguished playing career, including playing professionally in Germany, he returned to the Lower Mainland where he earned his designated Chartered Professional Coach designation and in 2014/15, Phil was recognized as the BC Hockey Coach of the Year. When not at the rink, Phil spends time with his wife and three children and is a police officer! He is excited about returning to Langley for the upcoming season and looks forward to mentoring our U-13 A1 players.

JAKE GUSHUE | U15 A1
Jake Gushue brings an extensive hockey background, coaching experience, and knowledge of the game. He believes that hard work and dedication are the keys to success in sport and in life, but that family and school come first. Following an extensive hockey career, Jake earned a hockey scholarship in the ACAC and attended university where he studied business management and kinesiology. Jake has had the privilege of coaching at all levels including the Under-15 A1 level, helping out with teams in the CSSHL, and most recently with the Langley Rivermen of the BCHL. When he is not at the rink coaching, Jake owns an athletic development training business where he continues to share his knowledge and love of the game!

DANNY FRANCO | U18 A1
Danny Franco has been involved with LMHA for over thirty years! He has coached all different levels of both house and rep hockey. Danny brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having volunteered on the LMHA Board of Directors including terms as a Division Manager, Coach Coordinator, VP of Operations, and 5 years serving as President of our Association. Over the years of his involvement in minor hockey he has gained the value and experience of what hockey brings to our community and not only focuses on the players on ice development but their off ice experience as well. This season, he is looking forward to working with our Under-18 A1 players!
