The LMHA Board of Directors would officially like to WELCOME each of you to the 2020-21 Hockey season!  Things are looking a little different at this stage of the game, but we are eager to see everyone and get the ball rolling… safely!  I know it has taken a while and there are a lot of “news” for all of us but it is our collective goal to get our kids back to the wonderful game of hockey.

Over the next couple of weeks, players will be skating in development groups until such time as we can move into team formation and eventually games.  You will be receiving communications from your Division Managers with respect to schedules, protocols and otherwise.  It is extremely important that you carefully read and follow any and all instructions. Things will change constantly depending on the current situation so please remain up to date. With COVID-19, there are specific protocols and limitations at each of our arenas which our members will need to be aware of and adhere to in order for our players to keep skating there.  LMHA will be taking a zero-tolerance stance on these rules.

Some key items to remember….

LMHA RETURN TO HOCKEY PLAN

LMHA has put together a RTP plan under the direction of Hockey Canada, BC Hockey, PCAHA, local arenas and the Provincial Health Authority.  This document is very important and outlines our protocols and restrictions in order to ensure the safety for our participants and our ability to return to the ice.  Please take some time to familiarize yourself with this document.

VOLUNTEERS

This season we will need many Volunteers with each ice time to help us keep our players safe and to ensure that protocols are followed at the different arenas.  These times will count toward your Volunteer Bond hours. You will be receiving information regarding tracking procedures for this season shortly.  All volunteer assignments will run through your Division Manager and only those assigned will be permitted into the arena’s.  There will be many other opportunities available shortly so stay tuned!

ePACT

Again this season, LMHA will be using the ePACT Emergency Network to collect and store important medical information for each of our players.  If you have not already, you will be receiving a notification to log into your account (or set one up) and update your players information.  Please do so as it will need to be completed PRIOR to any player stepping onto their first ice time.  Should you have any questions, please reach out to your Division Manager.

HEALTH CHECK BY TEAMSNAP

This season, in light of the pandemic, every player will be required to do a Health Check prior to every ice time they attend.  LMHA will be using TeamSnap’s Health Check to do so (as well as google forms in some cases).  TeamSnap’s Health Check is a questionnaire that opens eight (8) hours before an event and asks members four (4) questions recommended by the CDC for COVID-19 symptom screening.  This feature provides a way for members to complete a screening in their mobile app before attending scheduled team events and easily identifies the green clearance screen to show coaches and volunteers when participants arrive to a game or practice.  It is also logged into our system should there ever be a need for contact tracing.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of you!  LMHA has been thankful for all those that have stepped forward to support.. and to the amazing job our families are doing at following the procedures.  There will be much more information sent out in the coming weeks.  We appreciate your patience as we navigate through the season start up and get everything up and running!
