Hello LMHA Families,
If is our intention to provide you with as much detail as we have available leading into the month of August and, ultimately, the start of the 2020/21 Season. As a Board of Directors, we have been working hard to prepare for the season and to ensure a safe return-to-play for our members. We are focused on providing the best possible experience for each player while aligning and complying with direction from the PCAHA, BC Hockey, Hockey Canada, and the Provincial Health Authority. There are still many unknowns and plans and guidelines will continue to change on an ongoing basis. We are hoping that viaSport, in conjunction with BC Hockey, will allow us to move into ‘phase three’ soon. Accordingly, our return-to-play protocol is guided by the current situation and LMHA will be adapting as required.
In lieu of ice availability, facility restrictions, and the number of players that LMHA has registered to-date, we are required to adapt our evaluation process for both Rep (“A”) and House (“C”) Hockey. As such, Rep Evaluations for ALL Divisions will not commence until on or after September 11th or 12th of 2020. This will subsequently push the start date of our “C” Division Evaluations, including all Under-9 and Under-7 Evaluations. We want to assure our members that a later start date will in no way hinder our players from being competitive with our neighbouring associations. At this time, we cannot provide a date as to when game play will return however, given the outline which has been presented by our governing bodies, it is not likely to not resume before November 2020. We do know that PCAHA is actively working on the new season plan. In the meantime, LMHA is working to put together a development program for our players in preparation for game play.
In order to ensure a fair process for our members, LMHA will be reviewing the Rep Evaluation Process in detail and adjusting as needed to comply with our Return-to-Play Plan. This will be communicated to everyone as soon as details are finalized and approved. Additionally, we are also making the following adjustments to assist our membership:
- Additional Development Opportunities given the later start to the season. Plans are in the works and details will be made available to members shortly.
- Extended Refund Policy Deadline of September 15th, 2020 to withdraw from the Season and receive 100% refund.
- Extended Deadline of August 15th, 2020 to withdraw from Rep Evaluations and receive 100% refund.
Thank you in advance for your understanding. We ask that you not send individual emails requesting additional information regarding the above topics at this time – we will communicate to everyone as plans and dates are approved and available.
LMHA will update our website with a Return-to-Play information page and endeavour to circulate full details in the near future.
