From March 6th to the 9th, 2010 the Sportsplex rink in Langley will be home to some 40 teams and over 500 five- to eight-year-old boys and girls playing hockey at the Jordan Owens Memorial Spring Initiation Tournament.
The tournament is held annually in memory of a young Langley resident and avid hockey player, Jordan Owens, who succumbed to cancer at the age of eight.
In addition to being a fun time for the players and parents, the tournament will raise money for the charity chosen by the Owens family support.
The tournament serves several purposes, it is a vehicle to raise money for charity, it is for the fun and enjoyment of our kids to play community sport and it is to honor and cherish the name of Jordan Owens.
Each team will get to play four games with the younger H1 teams sneaking in a short appearance in the tournament. The tournament has no playoffs as it is not about the winning or losing – it is about having fun and supporting a very worthwhile cause.
